Star Gazing

There is no diffusing light on top of the mountain. The closes light is from Piketberg which is 17 km away. This makes it a great spot to look at the planets and other celestial objects. We have a Nexstar telescope which is computerized. This takes out a lot of the guess work.

Fauna & Flora

The mountain is teeming with life, 365 days a year. The fynbos is constantly changing the colour of the landscape.

Bird watching

One of the mountain's greatest treasures is the vast array of bird species that come through this area. At any given time of year you'll be able to find up to 60 different species! Novice or expert, is sure to be easy and exciting.

Birding Tips

The old saying that, "the early bird catches the worm", is very true and so it goes for bird watchers as well. Birds are most active in the cooler hours of the day and your best chances of seeing them out of their roost is at sunrise. A pair of binoculars is essential for spotting birds among the grass and leaves as well as the distinguishing subtle variations in plumage colour and form.
